What do you love about your home? Is it your large closet, your heirloom pieces, or even your garage? I posted this question on my Facebook page, and it was interesting to see all of the diverse answers from my friends. When I began planning the layout of my new home six years ago, I had a very clear idea of what I wanted…..Tall ceilings, character and personality so my home did not look so “new,” gathering spaces for friends and family, and easy transitions from room to room.
As you’ve seen on the news – or perhaps firsthand – many areas of Alabama and surrounding states were devastated by tornadoes on April 27, 2011. One of the places most devastated was my hometown of Tuscaloosa. Some areas are barely recognizable; pictures of the damage do not do it justice. Thankfully, thousands of people have literally come to the rescue, and the design world is not an exception.
This beautiful chandelier from Circa Antiques (one of my favorite stores ) in Birmingham, Al, has found a new home…..in the family room of a client’s home. We are giving the entire room a facelift, so once everything in the room is installed, we will share the before and after pictures.
This is the home of a young couple with school-age children. After deciding they needed to rework the interior space to fit the changing needs of their family, this couple recently completed a renovation to their home. More pictures will follow once the project is complete. The children in this family love to lounge in the living room to read, yet the furniture in there was not condusive to comfort or function.
I look forward to sharing with you glimpses of my previous work as well as my inspirations for future projects. Thank you for visiting my site. Dana.
